Nestled in the Cascade Range in Oregon lies the deepest lake in the U.S. At nearly 2,000 feet deep, Crater Lake sits where a volcano named Mount Mazama once did, before it collapsed thousands of years ago. What was left is one of the most pristine and beautiful lakes in the national park system. Near the edge of the lake sits Wizard Island, which can be visited and allow you to enjoy the lake from an entirely different perspective.

Founded in 1902, Crater Lake National Park was one of the first national parks established, during the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt. You can drive around the lake on Rim Drive or hike one of the fifteen trails in the park. If you’re into biking, Rim Drive can provide a challenging, yet rewarding experience.  And wherever you go, you’re always in a great spot for a memorable photo. It’s truly on of the most awe-inspiring sites in all the national parks.
