Rugged and foreboding, yet beautiful and rewarding. This describes Canyonlands National Park, located in Utah.  Carved in part by the Colorado River, the park is divided into four districts: The Needles, Island in the Sky, the Maze and the rivers.  The countless canyons, boulders and spires provide a near endless opportunity for amazing hikes and pictures. And because of the remoteness of the park, you’ll find it an ideal place for some amazing stargazing on a clear night.

Established in 1964, the park has few amenities and roads compared to some other parks. But that also makes it ideal for hiking, backpacking and rafting. In nearby Moab, you’ll find all the amenities you need. Also, it’s close to Arches National Park, so you can take in the sights and scenery of both on the same trip.
