What is a hoodoo? It’s a column or pinnacle of weathered rock. And nowhere else can you see a greater collection of the beautiful spires than in Bryce Canyon National Park. The sandstone columns can appear as anything from red to pink to yellow to orange, depending on the lighting and time of day. Visit at sunrise or sunset to get the full experience.

Established in 1928, Bryce Canyon is one of the five national parks in Utah and one of the busiest of all parks. Choose a good time of year to avoid crowds and experience the park on one of the many trails. You can see them from the rim or venture down among the hoodoos for a different perspective. The park is also a little more than an hour from Zion National Park, so you can plan to see both in one trip.
