Map

Mammoth Cave National Park is home to the largest known cave system in the world. Over 400 miles of known caves sit underneath a lush forest great for hiking and wildlife in its own right. The cave system is the highlight and it’s unlike no other place in the world. Above ground, over 85 miles of hiking trails let you explore the Kentucky wilderness on foot. And 30 miles of the river, great for kayaking, run through the park as well.

Located in Kentucky and established in 1941, the park is within easy reach of Louisville or Nashville and is less than a day’s drive from most of the eastern U.S. The temperature in the caves is around 54 Fahrenheit for most of the year, and the moderate temperatures outside allow you to visit the park in any season.
