Map
The only national park located south of the equator, National Park of American Samoa is spread across three lush islands in the South Pacific. Covered by rainforests and overseen by volcanoes, the park also has tropical beaches that lead into waters teeming with fish and coral. It’s a unique place unlike any other park in the system.
Established in 1988, the park is also one of the most remote. It’s about a five and half hour flight from Honolulu. The park also lacks some of the other amenities you might expect from more popular national parks. But it’s also a great way to experience the adventure of the islands and take in some rich Samoan culture. Whenever you go, be prepared for warm, humid temperatures, although going in the summer (their winter), will help you avoid monsoon season. Check out some of the other important information you need to know before you go.
