Top 3 "Must See"

Have limited time, or just looking for some guidance on the best way to spend your time in the park? Here are our Top 3 “Must See” attraction in the park.

Although short in distance (.4 mi/ .6km) the hike gives you some of the most spectacular views of the islands and surrounding areas, including the Vai’ava Strait, which is a National Landmark. You’ll also be able to see tiny Pola Island, which is a nesting area for seabirds. The trail is rated as “moderate”, although it should not be difficult for most people.

Located on Ofu Island, the area has some of the best snorkeling in all of American Samoa. Clear waters, coral and tropical fish make for a great adventure. Getting there is a challenge, so count on an entire day. To get there, you’ll need to fly to the island of Ta’u and hire a boat to get you to Ofu Island. It’s also advised to bring your own gear and food, as there is no opportunity to rent it on the island.

There are about a dozen trails on the island, ranging from .1 miles to 7 miles, although most are in the 2 to 3 mile range. Because they’re short, you can easily do 2 or 3 in a day to see different parts of the park and different views. Click HERE for a downloadable map from the National Park Service.
