Geographic diversity and boundless recreational opportunities are the hallmark of Olympic National Park, in Washington. From mountain glaciers to pacific beaches, the park is know for its lush forests, where you can find thousand year old cedar trees. It’s easy to get lost in the magic of this million acre national park west of Seattle. Elk, black bears and mountain lions are just some of the animals you can see in the park, while whales, sea lions, seals and dolphins inhabit the coastal waters.

Established in 1938, the park the park has trails that traverse rain forests, mountain lakes and waterfalls. The park is also great for backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, rafting and camping. It’s best to visit in the summer, when high temperatures reach the 70s, although even summer nights can be cool. There are four lodges in the park. The park is one of the most popular national parks, so if you’re planning on staying at those, you may need to book a year in advance.
