Pristine, untouched wilderness covered with snow-capped mountains and clear mountain lakes. You’ll find all this rugged majesty in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, the largest of the national parks. At over 13 million acres, the park provides the opportunity for endless adventure. Here you’ll find the largest concentration of glaciers in North America. For those looking to hike, backpack, camp or raft, you’ll never run out of new places to see and explore.

Established as a national park in 1980, the park is one of the least visited. Couple that with its immense size, and you’ll never have to fight crowds here. And, surprisingly, you can actually reach the park by car. It’s about a four and a half hour drive from Anchorage. You’ll want to visit in the summer, of course, when you’ll have more manageable temperatures and open roads. You’ll also have the chance to see some of the park’s bears before they hibernate for the winter.
