The Moro Rock is a massive granite dome that is one of the main attractions of the park. A road leads to the trailhead where you can climb to the top of the rock. The trail is a set of over 300 steps that will take you to the top of the rock. The trail is about a quarter mile each way. When you reach the top, you’ll have expansive views of the park, the San Joaquin Valley and surrounding mountains. Although there is a railing on most of the trail, it can get narrow at times and there is a steep drop-off at points. The trail is also usually closed in the winter.

For a fun experience, try camping in the park. Between Sequoia and Kings Canyon, there are fourteen campgrounds in the parks. Three of them are open year-round. Note that none of them are suitable for RV hookups. Although some can be had on a first-come basis, you’ll want to be sure to make reservations if you’re going during the summer. You’ll also want to check park conditions as occasionally the park limits fires due to dry or otherwise hazardous conditions.
