Getting to Mesa Verde National Park

Going to the park is relatively easy. With two airports within driving distance, you can generally get to the park from anywhere. 

By Air

Durango – La Plata County Airport is the closest airport to the park. It is about an hour away. It is serviced by American, Delta, Frontier and United.

Salt Lake City International Airport is about four hours north of the park and is serviced by several every domestic and international airlines. 

By Car

The Mesa Verde Headquarters and Chapin Mesa area (which includes the cliff dwellings and the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum) is a one-hour drive from Cortez, Colorado, heading east on Highway 160 to the park turnoff. It is a 1.5 hour drive from Durango, Colorado, heading west on Highway 160 to the park turnoff.
