Getting to Indiana Dunes National Park
Going to the park is relatively easy. With two airports within driving distance, you can generally get to the park from anywhere.
By Air
Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW)
Midway Airport is about an hour from the park. It is serviced by Allegiant, Delta, Porter, Southwest and Volaris Airlines.
South Bend International Airport (SBN)
South Bend Airport is about 45 minutes from the park. It is serviced by Allegiant, American, Delta and United.
By Car
Visitors can reach Indiana Dunes National Park via Interstate 94, the Indiana Toll Road (Interstate 80/90), U.S. Highways 12 and 20, Indiana State Road 49 and other state roads. The Indiana Dunes Visitor Center is located on Indiana State Road 49. From the Indiana Toll Road (Interstate 80/90), take exit 31 north. From Interstate 94, take exit 26 north. The GPS Coordinates of the visitor center are 41.633349, -87.053762 (Decimal Degrees). The majority of the national park’s facilities can be accessed off of U.S. Highway 12. As you travel on nearby highways, watch for the large brown signs that will direct you to different areas within the national park.
By Public / Commercial Transportation
The Chicago and South Shore Train has stops within the park. Gary Regional Airport, South Bend Regional Airport, and Chicago’s Midway International Airport and O’Hare International Airport are the nearby airports. There are several small taxi companies in the surrounding communities.
