Top 3 "Must See"

Have limited time, or just looking for some guidance on the best way to spend your time in the park? Here are our Top 3 “Must See” attraction in the park.

No visit to the park is complete without a visit to Jenny Lake.  A nearby visitor center is a good start to exploring the lake and the area. The lake lies at the base of the Teton Range. Here you’ll see great views of the mountains reflecting off the calm lake waters. It’s one of the most popular places in the park for a reason.  The lake can be explored by viewing from the shore, walking a trail or by boat. Several of the park’s trails are also near the area, so there’s an opportunity to take in the lake from either side or one of several scenic vantage points.

Following the base of the Teton Range, Teton Park Road is a 24 mile road that will give you an opportunity to get some great and varied views of the mountains. Starting at the Craig Thomas Visitor Center in Moose, you’ll pass scenic overlooks, trailheads and picnic areas. Be sure to stop at the Teton Glacier Turnout, where you can see the park’s largest glacier.  You’ll also want to stop at Jenny Lake for some great scenery, trails and a chance to go boating on the lake. For more glaciers and the tallest peak in the northern Teton Range, stop at the Mount Moran Turnout. You’ll also have the chance to plan some hikes from the trailheads along the road.

One of the more popular trails in the park, the Cascade Canyon Trail will most likely start with a boat ride across Jenny Lake. If the boat is unavailable, or if you feel like walking, you can walk around. Once you’re on the trail, it’s about a 9 mile round trip. On the way, you’ll climb about 1,100 feet and pass a 200 foot waterfall. You’ll pass Inspiration Point, where you’ll have amazing scenic views of the canyons and mountains. You can turn around there or proceed further up the mountains. On the way you may see moose and other wildlife. If you’re in shape for it, it’s the one trail in the park you won’t want to miss.
